Why do we use certain ingredients in our natural dog foods? 

Chicken & Turkey

All the chicken and turkey meat used by BARF is farm-reared. We NEVER use battery farmed birds.

Beef

Meat supplies the body with an excellent source of protein and contains all the essential amino and fatty acids, as well as minerals and vitamins, that dogs of all ages need to maintain good health. Cooking meat has been shown to actually destroy a lot of the nutritional goodness, and that's why a raw diet is the best, most natural way to feed your dog. After all, a wild cat or dog doesn't eat roast beef so nor should your dog!

Lamb

Lamb dog food is relatively high in fat compared to our other products and is therefore an excellent source of calories for dogs that need to gain weight or have higher calorie needs due to the fact that they work.

Tripe

Tripe is simply the stomach lining of a cow. We use beef leaf and green tripe  which still contains it's nutritional goodness and is an excellent source of protein. It is also very low in fat and can therefore assist if a dog needs to lose a few pounds! Most dogs seem to love tripe and it can therefore be a good introduction to raw feeding if your dog has never had any raw meat before.
